Yes. There are human members of the crew.
The water comes in handy. At one point, being chased by unfriendly aliens, they dump most of the water into space behind them. It promptly becomes a cloud of ice crystals. The cloud forms the metaphorical brick wall the pursuer runs into. Splat! (At the speed the pursuer is going, that cloud of ice crystals might as well
be a brick wall.)
