Although the Heisenberg uncertainty principle wasn't mentioned by name, Adams seems to have been having a bit of fun at its expense when he later wrote in Life, the Universe and Everything that it's impossible to know both The Ultimate Answer and The Ultimate Question in the same universe — they will cancel each other out and take the Universe with them to be replaced by something even more bizarre.
