I just said you would do the WHOLE thing en masse for say a 1000 books in one go to just 1 pc and back.

i.e you would organize/sort the whole think on pc4k and copy to kindle once perfection achieved.
The sync is so that if you read a book on your Kindle while on the road but then perhaps you read it on your PC when at home, the Sync will keep your page and annotations in sync. However, the actual book files are different on each device (because of the DRM).

As for the earlier item I mentioned about different books on each device, that is more because it is possible for a user to choose different books for different devices and not necessarily having the exact same library on each device as you have suggested. There is nothing wrong with your suggestion, I am only talking about the logistics on a global scale as everyone has the ability to do as they wish.

As Tiersten has mentioned, there is nothing wrong about what you are wishing it to do. It really is just that it isn't implemented, yet. I was just pointing out the complexities in what otherwise seems like a basic way to go.

As with DRM in other industries (e.g. music, etc). It is there to deter the would be pirates, but in reality it causes more headaches for those like yourself whom just want to utilize what they purchased in a couple of places through simple copy and paste type actions. It's unfortunate that's the way it is.
