it IS possible to fix the screen on these.......BUT, it's more expensive than just buying another nook / e-reader with the same screen (i've been trying for a while to fix an old kindle on the cheap, no luck :-(

.......if you do go looking for a replacement screen, here's some pointers

Check nookdevs / teardown, I stripped my own broken nook and updated the page.........

The display is an.......AZ / Prime View ED060SC4

on each display is written a small number on a white sticker near a row of four little capacitors / model number information

the sticker says something like
-1.28
with a barcode,

This number is the negative bias voltage of the E-Ink display and is unique to each batch (yours may have -1.14 or -1.48 for example).....

This voltage is set with a very small (<3mm x 4mm) 100K Ohm Surface mount Cermet trim pot (single turn variable resistor) that's surface mount and is a pain to get a replacement for (most RS parts are just physically too big)

IF you replace your display, you have to adjust that resistor.........
problem is, it's under one of the metal EMF covers - the L shaped one by the sim card slot.......

There is some blue adjustment locking compound on the variable resistor which sticks to the metal cover..........

If you do pull off the cover, use a very small heater in the far corner up from the sim card holder, make the surface painful to touch

This should melt the locking compound and stop the cover from pulling off the top of the variable resistor when you pry it free

Adjust the resistor until you get good contrast on the display and page turns (or use a multimeter to check the voltage!).......then re-assemble

Good luck!
I don't suppose you know the number of the pot on the pcb or is it obvious?

I have a new screen and will be doing the surgery on my broken Nook shortly!

(I ordered a new screen direct from China, not cheap but marginally cheaper than a new WiFi only Nook - which I also bought sort of for insurance)

:-)
