.....Richard Popkin and Avrum Stroll, in Philosophy Made Simple, relate the story of the American philosopher Morris Raphael Cohen, who in teaching Descartes to his class had carefully explained Descartes' reasons for doubting his very existence. He then sent his students home to read the philosopher’s Meditations. The next day a worried young man, looking much the worse for wear, reported to Professor Cohen. He had been up all night studying and worrying about the assignment.
....."Professor Cohen," he said anxiously, "please tell me, do I exist?"
