I suppose that even when you want to hide your SSID, you can turn SSID broadcast on momentarily just before you set up your wifi connection from your Kindle? Once it's set up, you can keep it off, because your Kindle will already know the wifi specifics.

Same for MAC address: turn off the MAC filtering, connect the Kindle, and your router will list what devices are connected. Add the address to the list, and enable the filtering again.

PS. It's such a pity the page turning buttons don't work they way they do on the Kindle 2, where you can't do any accidental page turns. But I guess it was either this or a bigger Kindle...
