If money is no object get a slate Tablet PC.
No six inch reader does a particularly good job of rendering readable pdf documents. And certainly not the technical books you're looking at.
The Kindle DXG and the upcoming Pocketbook 902/903 (which does use ADE) might be decent but you're still looking at a black and white display.
Take a look at the Viliv Blade.
