Yes, one should wait. Because if the rumors are true, then Sony may be better then the K3. But we won't know that until the announcement is made and we get concrete proof. The problem is that if you've ordered a k3 now and you shortly get it, you may find your 30-day return window gone before Sony releases the new readers. So there really won't be an opportunity to properly decide. This is why I say wait to even place an order for the K3 until enough is known about the new Sony. Because if the main reason for ordering a K3 is the new Pearl screen, then Sony may have Pearl as well.
