My understanding is that Borders does not do this. There is info on this board about creating an SD card with 1.4 on it--involves working with linux. I guess you could try doing a factory reset (go to Settings===>Advanced on your Kobo) and then downloading and installing a brand spanking new squlite DB (see the sticky at the top of this forum).

At the end of the day though you will have to use the same ADE for all of the books you install.
