I took Jon up on his offer a while back. I got my gift card which allowed me to purchase the Kindle edition of his Red Chaser and left me with $1.01 to apply to another ebook. There was no increase in spam, or any other unpleasant such things that followed. Just a decent piece of free fiction. I know the internet can be full of all sorts of nasty surprises, but Jon is on the level. I look forward to reading the sequel.
