We like in a rural area where cable is not an option. I installed DirectTV over 15 years ago as a gift for my spouse. At the time, DirectTV offered many more "channels", particularly the option to get both west-coast and east-coast (USA) feeds for the premium channels such as HBO and Showtime. Now, cable offers that as well as many "on demand" options, but we've stuck with our satellite provider and probably would not elect to go to cable even if it were available.
