I am still confused. The only reasons you've mentioned in the first post, were:

" I had hoped that Sony would provide better support for PDFs and justified ePubs"

Now you say that EPUB don't matter. (obviously if they would, you shouldn't have chosen K3, since it has NO epub support) And that you were converting books to LRF.

What does matter then? PDFs?
Was there something wrong with LRF support?

What's the real "reason" to switch? Pearl screen? Well, that's a valid reason, however I don't get why would anyone mention firmware in this context.

Not to mention Sony is about to release 2 readers with Pearl screen (350/650).
