Removing search criteria on softrooted Nook

I have to admit that I feel really dumb asking this question. I am absolutely convinced that there is something very simple that I am overlooking but I certainly can't find it.

I have a Nook that I softrooted. I go into My Library and open the search option and enter something. That works fine. Question - how do I get rid of the search criteria I entered. When I look at the search again it shows empty but if I enter another criteria it just adds it to the first one. I have tried backspace keys, delete keys, cancel, submit blank criteria etc. So far the only thing that works is powering off the entire device and then waiting while it scans all my folders (I have a large library on the Nook) when it starts up. I am sure there is a better way. Has someone found it?? ..................Jackie
