When my replacement K2 arrived Tuesday, I was pleasantly surprised to find that by restoring the library from my computer backup, all my current bookmarks remained intact. Every book opened right to where I had left off, which would not have been the case otherwise. Had I depended solely on my Amazon backup, the Amazon books would have opened to where they were when I last performed a sync and check for new items, and my place in all the non-Amazon books (which Amazon keeps no track of) would have been lost.
