The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch.

It was recommended in a thread on fantasy books here on Mobileread. I hope I enjoy it!
And it was enjoyable, if a bit bloody in places. When I start buying again, I'll probably bear Scott Lynch in mind. I wasn't overly fond of the interweaving of chapters and backstory 'interludes'. Unless there's some every good reason (which I don't think there was in this case) I rather prefer linear narrative.

And now onto the last few issues of Jim Baen’s Universe magazine. A valiant attempt to set up an on-line/ebook only professional-rate SF/Fantasy magazine. Unfortunately, they've had to close their doors after four years, as they hadn't been able to pick up enough subscribers. I suspect they were just a little early.

I have the last five issues of volume 4 to read. I've finished #2 and now I'm on #3.

For anyone interested in SF/Fantasy shorter works (although they do have serials too), all 24 issues are now available at the bargain price of $30.
