I was in an Apple authorised reseller a month or so ago just to look at the iPad and was asking about the built in battery and warranty and replacement etc. He said that unless the iPad battery failed within 14 days of receipt (classifying it as a Dead-On-Arrival) that it will cost you $125AUS to have it repaired/replaced.
Ok, based on this new information I take back my previous post. Thanks kjk. Still not going to get an iPad though (would consider it if they released iTunes for Linux, no way am I changing my home infrastructure to compensate for one new device).
