pashlit- the wacom touch layer has nothing to do with the brightness of the screen. the layer is completely under the eink and does nothing to affect the brightness one way or the other.

what you perceive as a lack of brightness on the part of the Boox display is a concern of the software and not the hardware (when compared to other eink vizplex screens that may have a brighter background).
