Actually that "abusing a weak dollar" was kinda tongue-in-cheek
since it's actually good for the US to have a weak dollar: helps with exports, and given that the US economy doesn't rely much on imports there isn't much of a downside.

Regarding mail forwarding services: I have to look into it, but it's possible that you could avoid customs if they repack before shipping. i.e: technically you are not importing anymore.
Does anybody know something about it?
I'm mentioning it 'cause shipping rates seem quite expensive at smarthome.
