And I wonder how much of that is the result of never having been taught, and how much is because every waking hour outside of school hours is spent in search of pleasure and entertainment.

Our society as a whole has shifted, and a few hours in school canʻt always counteract what children spend every other minute doing, and if we donʻt have their attention or respect during the actual time spent in school, itʻs a wash. Whose fault would that be, really? (A serious thought)
