Where he around today Karl Marx might have said "Sports.... is the opiate of the people".

I can't see kids practicing with a skateboard or bouncing a basketball for hours, without thinking of people restocking the shelves in a grocery store of sweeping the floor in a McDonalds.

Healthy entertainment? Yes. But a means to better their future? No.

There is a culture of futility, of willful ignorance, that seems rampant.

I don't know how teachers can stand it. To be in a classroom where only a few want to learn, and the others want to disrupt.

I've been in schools where the very young are bright eyed and want to learn. I've been in others where the older students remind me of the child solders you sometimes see on TV. Cold hostile eyes staring at you.

To the teachers out there - Good luck and thank you. I could never do what you do.
