Price expectations?

I'm currently choosing my first reader and leaning heavily toward the Kindle, based on price and book selection. Probably aiming for an early October purchase (b-day), but could hold out until X-mas if it was worth it to. I've also handled Nooks and Sonys in stores recently and could go that way if they had a significant price advantage

I'm curious how you all think the prices will fluctuate between now and the end of the year. I saw the article posted here about stuff maybe going under $100 dollars.

Would Kindle cut their price again so dramatically so soon? Maybe to officially corner the market. I guess my #1 question would be: has Amazon had Holiday sales on Kindle previous years?

I'm leery of the off brands that are probably gonna be driven from the market, but maybe they'll liquidate w/ deals too good to refuse?

Would Nook or Sony go $99 as a hail mary?

Maybe my perception of the Kindle's inevitable dominance is off, but I'm surprised Nook has not met their price (at least 25 bucks off when you count tax). Makes me think they can't and thus won't.

Just still trying to figure out which one to get and when to get it. I'm probably lucky Amazon has the 3 week backlog-- made it easier for me to not just dive in.
