While it clearly wouldn't be needed for text-only books, a magazine in pdf format is often more than 50MB, a comic around 20MB and if I remember correctly the first ipad edition of wired was around 500MB, so there are plenty of ways for people to use up the space even without departing the area of reading so overtly as storing things like videos.
