I had the same problem but my Nook was rooted. I donīt know about yours.
To solve the problem, I re-root it using the steps from NookDevs. Now itīs Ok.
It seems that some bootstrap file got corrupt.
If there is a way to re-apply the firmware to your main SD card, could it be a solution.
