I'm beginning to converge a little on why I find the concept sad.

The minimalistic nature I accept and, as someone who lives with a bit of clutter, I applaud. If, however, they lived mainly from hotels/hostels then I would be more sympathetic to this lifestyle (although as I've already mentioned I doubt it sustainable). There is a parallel to some extent with an OAP couple who live in Travelodge rooms, moving from one lodge site to another (I think it's Travelodge).

It's the imposition (and it can be nothing more) upon friends that I have an issue with.
