Check account today, no pay. Called up, played 'pass the phone call' and learned that they will not direct deposit for someone who no longer works for the state, it's a different procedure.
Then were is our money? Seems the person doing the checks is on jury duty.
I want our money.
Here it is, want to pick it up?
NO, it's over a 3 hour drive there, why would I do your work for you?
Should we mail it?
Well, DUH, yes.
OK, it will be certified mail, so it will take about 3-4 days, then you'll have to take the notice you get to the post office to actually pick up the check.
How about you freeze your next paycheck for a month and see how you feel? I don't care if it is the comptroller's fualt, my husband did the work, and you need to get us our money. Thankfully he is away from working for the state, and this isn't likely to entice him BACK to teaching in a youth facility in the near future.

By the time his check comes in I'l have my next (and last) pay from my last job. Understand, he hasn't gotten paid by them since the end of JUNE, and the new job doesn't pay until late SEPTEMBER.

I love the "Check is in the mail" excuses! While I was working at a university on a federally funded program, I was mailed monthly paychecks. One month - no check. So ... Phone calls, pass the phone, tip-toe from the bursar to the mail room to the accounting clerk, etc.... Finally gave up for the day. Next day I got my check in the mail postmarked yesterday's date -- the envelope had a huge coffee mug stain on it -- apparently someone had been using it as a coffee mug coaster to protect their desk! I took the envelope back to the bursar's office and asked the secretary to return it to whoever was missing their coaster!
