My bookshelves aren't neat either, but I'll open my home to y'all anyway. I just realized that a lot of my fiction is in the attic in two big photocopy paper boxes.
1480, top shelf - This is the wall-mounted shelves in the living room, on the wall behind the couch. My wife is not happy about this one. But I think it is GREAT, and well-rounded. The top shelf has the big wooden motorcycle, a coffee table book of Ireland, (I'd like to go one day) a training book for amateur radio test (used to be a licensed operator) a Mozart biography, a Rembrandt art book, photo albums, a book on digital photography, and a couple of Time Life books on personal computers from the 1980s. (comedy now)
Middle shelf - On the right, there are a few portable chess sets and a chess computer. Then music boxes. The music box with the red sides is from my grandparents' 1971 trip to Switzerland. It is a hand-turned one for my kid sister; one can turn the crank either way and it works. Behind that are some misc. paperbacks. Some H.P. Lovecraft, Poe, Chessmaster novels. On the far left is a paper mache turtle my sister made for me and a Spiderman candle.
On the bottom shelf, we have some good stuff: Eragon & Eldest on the right, Chronicles of Narnia, my old grammar textbook from high school, complete Shakespeare, a bunch of chess books, a dictionary, The Lord of the Rings, a hardbound National Geographic book from 1932, a whiskey book, a Nikon compendium, some woodworking books, a Bach book, and a couple of gun books.
1481 - This one is kind of fun. Top shelf has radio controlled airplane wings. Next shelf down has a turtle lamp, some medical flash cards, and a couple of my wife's medical texts. The shelf second from the bottom has my panama hat that I bought in Krakow, Harry Potter series, Annotated Sherlock Holmes, and some empowering feminist books that my mom got my wife. The bottom shelf is all medical texts of my wife's and her RF headphones that she doesn't use.
1482 - This is the top of my nightstand. I've been reading a few of Grimm's Fairy Tales every night. I'm halfway through the complete Sherlock Holmes. This one is not as good to read as the annotated one in the other room, but the leather bound, ribbon book-marked physical aspect is soooo much nicer. Lastly, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, which my former motorcyclist buddies recommended. (especially the older ones) I broke my leg in a motorcycle accident in November, so I'm not sure if I'll pick that one up again. I've sworn off motorcycling.
Thanks for looking, and hopefully all the other self-concious folks with sloppy bookshelves will post up now!
