Yes.. The ending is a "What?..." But even the first story in the collection "A Horseman in the Sky" is a shocker and the third story "Chickamauga" seems to be another shocker from reviews on the net. These stories were written more than 100 years ago and could easily have been written by current suspense authors. I'm going to have to pay more attention to Mr. Bierce.
