Definitely. I've done the slow down towards the end thing, too. I like to think about the book after I've read it to savor it a little longer. If it is a new author, to me, I look up all their other works.

The most irritating, let's take decades to finish the story, author for me is ... George R. R. Martin. I so enjoy reading "A Song of Ice and Fire" and all of the books so far I haven't wanted to end. And it looks like they never will!

As far as bookends go, my favorite set came from the expanded, cost more, version of the Fellowship of the Ring DVD set.
