I would have thought that the battery appears to drain faster with Pressreader active for two reasons:

1.)My reader never shuts down, by itself, when I have the app open. But I always turn it off manually, and, subjectively, do not experience shorter battery life then. In that case the reader also does come back to the page I was on last, at the zoom level I was using.

2.)While using the Pressreader app I constantly use the touch screen to zoom in or out, call up an article, pan, or go to another page. That, of course, tends to use the battery relatively fast. If I read a full paper from beginning to end every day I can go 5-6 days at most on one charge. Though I read almost every article. A good paper
