Too bad, cause Barrayar is not particularly "romancey". Except for the Dru and Kou sub-plot. It is heavy into intrigue, politics, and action of the Civil War kind. And it sets the stage for some of the more critical elements of Warrior's Apprentice. (To say nothing of A Civil Campaign.)
