I subvocalise when I read - but I also find that reading out loud helps on occasion too. It helps my comprehension if I'm finding passages in non-fiction books hard to understand; and also if I'm struggling to complete something I'm not enjoying reading, but need to for some reason or another.

I wonder if the benefits of reading aloud are somewhat overlooked these days.
