It's very hard to put the genie back in the bottle so, yes, I think this actually does herald the $99 price point by a brand name player. The unit does not have touch screen; does not have wifi; is 5" not 6" ... Sony could do quite well at $99 to help support hiring pricing for its other models in comparison.

One the Amazon Kindle 3 actually begins shipping, Sony (and Kobo) will have to do something like this.
