I have just registered to say many thanks for the help. I have just obtained a 505 for my mother & myself & one of them had no red light - I found this thread & the reset whilst connected by usb to a PC has got it working.
Once again thanks for the help & I look forward to joining the ereader community. Now to check out the dictionary suggestions.
