Feb 28 NYT article, which 'puts a lie' to the claims that removal of physical costs will lead to large savings, since printing, storage and shipping only represent 12.5% of the cost of a typical hardback.
The real problem here is the estimate that publishers only spend 50c designing, editing and typesetting an ebook compared to 80c for a physical one. This shows in the shoddy production values of many ebooks and is unacceptable.
