I've just received an email from the Digital Text Platform bit of Amazon. It seems that although they have autiomatically converted the price for me, it is now possible for me to set the UK price in £ separately.

For books being distributed using the 70% option in the US, the minimum US price is $2.99, and the minimum UK price is £2.25.

For 35% option books, the minimums are $0.99/£0.75

The weird thing at the moment is that they don't specify whether that minimum includes VAT or not. Their royalty calculator seems to think it doesn't include VAT, yet the prices shown on Amazon UK by auto-conversion of the dollar price do include VAT. Strange. I haven't tried changing one of my titles to a GBP price yet, as I think it best to wait for things to settle down a bit.
