If you don't hold the phone, Kindle, etc. just right and go to the proper room in the house, you probably will lose the connection. And when I do have connection it is rarely 3G! WiFi in my case will be rock solid and faster. For those with good 3G coverage, then 3G is a good option.
Last night I tried to use 3G on my KDXG to download a 24MB book. I tried for over two hours and it kept timing out. Throughout the process my KDXG 3G connection maintained 2 to 3 bars. After two hours I had nothing to show for my troubles but a half depleted battery. I finally gave up and downloaded the book to my PC and manually copied it to the KDXG. That took no more than 2 or 3 minutes total. I relate this not to diss the Kindle's 3G, but to point out that AT&T sucks at 3G in my area of Dallas/Fort Worth. It just reaffirmed that I made the correct decision in going with WiFi only on my new K3.

BTW: I downloaded the same 24MB book to my iPod touch via WiFi in appx. 1.5 minutes!
