Hmmm, I'm not sure where Baen Books, BeWrite Books, and O'Reilly Media fit if not somewhere between 'publishers large and small' - none of them use any form of DRM, yet they seem to be quite successful. I buy mostly from places that don't impose DRM, in fact.

It seems to me that it is the Legacy Six (and their hangers-on) who think DRM will save them.
