I've found that, unlike the pre recall white units, the new one can get along without a stylus. On my old unit there were a few buttons on screen that I could not access without one.
I think the post-recall ones are definately doable without a stylus, but more buttons would be nice. I tried it and found myself longing for a five-way button like on my Palm or eSlick.
