SONY has always been a hardware company. It shows.
But the good thing with the reader is that you are not forced to deal with their software - with the only exception of annotations, in case you want to view those on your PC.

Yet, I have to agree - they can't claim top quality when the software is so poor. The reader firmware is lacking as well, after all, not just the PC interface.

Same thing for the store. You don't have to use it - there are plenty of other options. But that is clearly a weakness.

I like the PRS900, don't get me wrong. But I have specific needs - free hand annotations are a must for me, so I have limited options. Yet, I realize that is not a sine qua non for a great number of users - and I am fearful regarding SONY's future in this market.
