I was sure it was the wife! She was SO unsympathetic - and odd! And then I was sure it was the cop. I always suspect the cop when a book features a villain always one step ahead of pursuit.

Yes! I thought so, she was also my first choice for the same reasons. Then I decided that she would likely become one of the victims. Also like you suspected the cop, but realised who it was when he became pushy & arrogant
