I remember quite well what I have read, but I still like rereading, just as I like hearing or singing the same songs over again.

Remembering non-fiction better than fiction is perhaps not all that surprising: a fiction creates a unique world, while non-fiction adds to the world you already live in. You link the new information into the old network, and then later information tamps it down solid. Imaginary worlds have to be fired up new every time, unless you belong to a fan group that constantly talks about it, or if the fiction bleeds into real life, rather as LOTR has done.
