At its price point, I would NOT expect the US$139 Kindle to have that screen.

If you think $35 is "over-priced" for a protective case - just wait 'till you accidentally sit on your eReader or drop it onto concrets or some other such disaster. Thirty-five bucks is not outrageous, IMHO, for protection. PLUS, of course, a $20 InvisibleShield screen protector.
