Yup, I do just that. The only caveat is that if you register a second PC on your account you take up one of your 6 registrations slots, that may or may not be a concern for you, of course.
The other thing is be sure you un-register that PC before you let them upgrade you, otherwise you'll have to call Sony and get them to turn it off for you.
