Hi Charlie, I am glad that we can be light hearted. He was a great pro, working at Hollywood. He produced in that genre, and not in the higher league, of William Faulkner just to make a name. BTW William Faulkner co-wrote with Chandler in Hollywood.

I like his stories, his humor and ironic attitude. The prose is top notch, the details amazing. The pendulum, what master Kitano calls the building and release of tension, is practiced with great ability. When you see a movie like Tarantino's Jackie Brown, an absolute masterpiece, there is Chandler written all over it. So his influence is alive and rolling.
