I've had an ASUS Eee PC 901 unit for two years running Windows XP and 2 GB memory (no hard drive at all). It's been an ideal travel unit for me: it stores in the room safe in hotels and gets me via VPN into the corporate network when needed. Battery life is good and it's rugged. I will almost certainly replace it in due course with another ASUS netbook. And, I strongly concur about their motherboard business. Extremely well built and reliable.
As for SiPix in volume ... well, when it comes, it comes. In the e-reader space, however, things are moving rapidly and further delays may bypass the technology altogether.
