Indeed, the 90x models were a significant improvement. However, a (second-hand) 701G with a 4GB SSD and 512MB for RAM does account for poor functionality nowadays. Even EasyPeasy, a Linux distro which is tailormade for eeePC's, works sluggishly on it.
90x are much better machines. I wish I had been more patient and saved a bit more money.
