I have the prs-300 and an iPhone and will be getting a kindle 3 later this month.

I had the iPhone first. One of the reasons I bought the phone was to be able to read books on it. I enjoyed reading books on there for a year or so but it became increasingly hard to purchase content as fictionwise began
to place region restrictions on most of the books I wanted to buy. The battery life was always a problem and the small screen size and backlit screen made reading for long stretches uncomfortable.

Because of this I decided to get a dedicated e-book reader and went for the prs-300 because at the time I didn't want the older kindle models for various reasons and didn't want a touch screen. Plus the small size was something I wanted.

The prs-300 is more than adequate and if I was in the Market for a primary reading device I would choose it again.

I will also buy the kindle 3 later this month as it has a few features that the prs-300 doesn't which would be useful to me. These features are not essential or deal breaking but because of the low price of the kindle it is worth buying despite already owning the Sony.
