I have been updating series and occassionally authors for consistency and have been re-converting as I go. Not terribly important but would be nice if it just updated automatically.

It doesn't update the book but if in
Preferences -
Add/Save -
Send to device you have calibre set to
Automatic Management then the metadata on your device should sync with the metadata in your library every time you connect your device.
