Since it isn't available yet, I obviously can't be sure, but I believe you press those buttons inwards towards the screen, rather than down towards the bottom. This should enable you to hold the Reader with one hand and turn pages while just holding it.
I believe there is a UK member here who participated in a video for the UK market and has already tried it, perhaps she can elaborate (without violating any NDA)
