1) Apple is preventing side loading of applications. They still allow you to download from the Google store (NOTE: ATT does not have a Google Market).

And yes there are apps that allow one to sideload w/o having to root/jailbreak your device, but don't consider this an option.

This is also incorrect. The bootloader detects if the ROM installed is different from an official release if so it will fail to boot until the original ROM is reloaded. You can still root/jailbreak the device.

On both accounts I think this is wrong they should not lock out device in any way. Their argument is valid, though I disagree with it. Sidloading apps and installing kernels increase the chance of destabilizing the device and they are trying to reduce the number of client calls.

However your missing one major point. I still have choices, these are a few vendors, and I'm choosing to go with Verizon and Samsung because they are not so restrictive. What are you choices with Apple(AT&T and a black iphone).
